Vintage Notes:  In the mountainous high elevation vineyards of Amador County 2019 had a cold wet spring, especially during flowering, which caused stinky loose grape clusters producing only a 50% percent crop.  Low vineyard yields produced more extractive flavorful wines, but not much wine.

Primitivo/Zinfandel:  This wine made only for our wine club members is much like a light claret style Zinfandel.  In the 50’s and 60’s Zinfandel was known as the Claret of California red wine.  Primitivo and Zinfandel share the same chromosomal makeup.  One coming from southeastern Italy and the other from California.  Even though they have the exact same chromosomal makeup, the Primitivo produces more of a Pinot Noir like delicate style wine.  Enjoy this Claret style Primitivo with grilled chicken and picnic grilled red meats.

Tasting Notes:  Medium Claret/garnet color.  Raspberry, dried cherry, pipe tobacco come through on this balanced complete wine.  The wine finishes with flavors of cured meats and black pepper with overall great drinkability.

Blend:  100% Amador County, 90% Primitivo from the Spinetta Vineyard and 10% Syrah from the York Vineyard.
