Greetings //FirstName//,

In less than two weeks summer will officially arrive!  And we're welcoming it with open (and bare) arms!  For some, summer may mean lazy days filled with time at the beach, in the mountains or at the lake.  For us here, it means just a few short weeks of R&R before we turn our focus to what will be the harvest of 2017.  So we're taking advantage of this time.

On June 12th, Scott and Jana will embark on a European river cruise and wind their way from Nuremburg to Luxembourg, taking in the sights and history of the rivers and castles.  Following their cruise, Scott will be making a trip "home" to the Rhineland Pfalz region (where he fell in love with wine making and Riesling) for a reunion with his wine making classmates.  In honor of his return to his "roots", our June 2017 Harvey Wines Insider is dedicated to all things Riesling.

What's in this edition of the Harvey Wines Insider:

BLOG OF THE MONTH

With the wide variety of Riesling styles, ranging from very dry to extremely sweet, it can be difficult to decipher which one will suit your taste. In this blog, we will discuss the different styles of Riesling, specifically the German styles, and what key words to look for when choosing a Riesling you're sure to love.

RECIPE(S) OF THE MONTH
"THREE RECIPES FOR THREE RIESLINGS"

As you may have learned, there are a variety of different styles of Riesling.  With this variety also comes versatility.  The natural acidity in Riesling, along with low alcohol and crisp, refreshing flavors, makes this a "go-to" wine for a variety of different foods.  Super dry styles pair nicely with spicy dishes and appetizers.  Off-dry styles with a hint of residual sugar complement a heartier, more complex offering, while the dessert style Rieslings, are great to serve with (or as) dessert.  Seeing that Scott makes three different styles of Riesling, we have THREE recipes for you this month.  And in an easy to download and print (or save) format.

Appetizer ~ Open-Faced Crab Empanadas
Jana Winery Blanc de Blanc Sparkling Wine

Main Course ~ German Sausages with Bacon & Apple Sauerkraut
2016 Jana Winery Old Vine Riesling

Dessert ~ Honey Poached Pears with Creme Fraiche
